Abstract

On the basis of the statistical data analysis of the regional economic development in Russia, as well as the models to evaluate the role of natural capital in enhancing the regional economic growth (proposed by the authors), and the intensity of natural capital industrial consumption across the regions, assumptions are made about modern resource potential for Russia’s economic growth, the factors of its internal interregional economic differentiation, along with suggesting the most optimal directions for modernization of the national policy of environmental management and industry planning with a view to offset the challenges to sustainable and environmentally friendly development.
