Abstract
The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is considered a sustainable mode of public transportation in cities. Bus route No. 1 (BRT1) will be deployed in Ho Chi Minh City, on the Vo Van Kiet - Mai Chi Tho Boulevard (VVK-MCT) with a length of 26 km. This study was carried out the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for this project in accordance with the Decree 40/2019 of the Vietnamese Government and according to the Safety policies of the World Bank. The study had evaluated the natural-economic-social conditions of the project area, assessed the environmental and social impacts as well as proposed solutions to minimize the impacts during the periods of preparation, construction, and operation of the project.
