Abstract
The aim of this study is to characterize the availability of the basic elements of environmental protection infrastructure in the rural areas of the Lublin province. Within the analysis, availability of the water and sewage infrastructure: facilities, water supply system, sewerage and sewage treatment plants and the state of the local waste management were considered. The issue was presented in relation to the total rural region compared to the rural areas of the country and at the level of 193 municipal local government units in the region. In the case of urban-rural analyzed only rural area. The time range of the completed studies covers the period between 2007-2011. Source of data was Local Data Bank GUS in Warsaw and database developed by D. Guzal-Dec for the needs of specifying ecological value of rural community and rural areas of urban-rural communities in Lublin voivodeship. In relation to development of environmental protection infrastructure issue where used also analytic remarks concerning chosen issues of communal infrastructure development in Lublin voivodeship included in publication of Statistic Office in Lublin. Statistic method was used in the development to assess accessibility of researched elements of environmental protection infrastructure on the level of tested units in Lublin region, relative valorization method was used which allowed qualification of rural community and rural areas of urban-rural communities in Lublin voivodeship by value of indicator in environmental protection infrastructure. Analysis pointed out the existence of disproportion in accessibility to tested infrastructure mechanisms of environmental protection between rural areas in Poland and Lublin voivodeship at disadvantage of the region. Revealed also much difference in accessibility of discussed communal infrastructure appearing on the level of district and basic units of local government.
