Abstract

Plant blindness is the phenomenon of overlooking plants, limiting our understanding of nature and hindering awareness of their role in the carbon cycle and climate change. To address this issue, a questionnaire has been developed to measure plant blindness. It consists of four domains: visual perception, recognition of plants as living beings, knowledge of plant biology, and attitudes towards plants. The questionnaire reveals that plants are often seen as less alive than animals, and knowledge about plant biology is lacking. Further development of the questionnaire aims to calculate a composite score to evaluate plant blindness and measure the effectiveness of educational interventions.
