Abstract
The distributions of fitness on the sites of one- andtwo-dimensional lattices are studied for the nearest-neighbourBak-Sneppen model on self-organized criticality. The distributions showcomplicated behaviour showing that the system is far from equilibrium.By introducing the ``energy'' of a site, the entropy flow from thesystem to its environment is investigated.
