Abstract
Entropy is a scientific measure of uncertainty or irregularity in a system. It applies to the transmission of a signal, in particular the transmission of music and speech to a listener. This article explains entropy from a universal physical point of view. Beginning with the perspectives of famous scientists like Boltzmann and Shannon, some applications to voice and speech are given.
