Abstract

Among a number of approaches adopted for entrepreneurship development, the article refers to two important recent experiments: Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Parks (STEPs), and Technology Business Incubators / Innovation and Business Incubators. STEP is promoted by the Union Department o f Science and Technology (DST), and the incubators approach is spreading fa st in a variety of ways among reputed educational institutions. A prudent blend of technological and managerial specialisations is the anyfor the success of any enterprise. These can be in the same person or in a group of persons associated with the enterprise. Conceptual framework and instances of involvement of a number of educational institutions are cited as models for replication in other parts of the country, particularly with focus on technically and managerially qualified and well equipped youth willing to take up entrepreneurial career for promoting innovative ventures.
