Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the influence of entrepreneurial attitudes like innovation, perceived personal control, need for achievement, self esteem, risk perception, opportunity recognition on an individual's entrepreneurial intention. It also attempt to explore how the entrepreneurial intention vary with gender, family business and business education. The empirical basis is formed by conducting surveys among 300 business students from state of Kerala. Convenient sampling method was used for the study. The findings of the study indicate that attitudes do increases entrepreneurial intention. The study makes it clear that opportunity recognition attitude followed by self esteem attitude and risk willingness attitude had higher effect on entrepreneurial intention than other attitudinal dimensions. The findings also revealed that gender and business education does not influence entrepreneurial intention, but family business influence entrepreneurial intentions of business students. These findings provide important insight to promote entrepreneurship as a career among business students.
