Abstract

With the support of the important lessons in the work of Norbert Elias, the author of this essay provides an interesting and original reconstruction of nineteenth century Brazil. The author uses Elias' characterization of courtly society for the case of the exiled Portuguese court in Brazil; the article also discovers novel aspects of this period in Brazilian history
