Abstract

The boundless worldwide success of Italian restaurants can mask the fact that their success developed at different paces, depending on their location. This article offers to create a map of Italian restaurants established in Brussels during the second half of the twentieth century, particularly in the 1960s and 1970s, while highlighting the various social interactions occurring in these places. Analyzing the decoration, the atmosphere and the dishes we will travel to an imaginary setting drawing on the Italian style which reveals a specific relationship with the aforementioned elements, closely linked to the national context.
