Abstract

Opinion no 101 “Health, ethics and money” allows the National Consultative Ethics Committee to place special attention to confrontational approach between utilitarianism and “deontologism”. The Committee agreed utilitarian attitude can help “to highlight the contradictory interests that pervade society” and offered some clarification to democratic debate. However, this committee doesn’t give to utilitarianism a value equivalent to “deontologism”, guarantor of unconditional value of the human person.
