Abstract

As a part of the ESA Archives Committee activities a questionnaire was circulated in 1978 to entomology departments and a few other organizations within the North Central Branch area. The purpose of the survey was to locate materials of potential historical value and to determine if such items were being preserved in established archives, in departmental files or in the hands of private individuals (Burke et al. 1979). The response was reasonably good but the information obtained undoubtedly is incomplete. However, the publishing of a preliminary report at this time seems justified. Hopefully, this listing will encourage efforts to preserve the still available old records and to establish archives and stimulate development of definite archival procedures were they do not now exist. Furthermore, it is hoped some historians may be moved to make use of the resource materials in scholarly studies.
