Abstract

This article studies the resolution of a 40-year-old professional woman's sense of entitlement to marry a perfect man. The case was treated through Modern Psychoanalysis, which made use of the therapist's countertransference reactions to understand the defensive nature of the sense of entitlement as it related to the patient's inability to handle aggression and to remain in relationships. A disappointing therapy relationship helped the patient accept disappointments in real life relationship.
