Abstract

In aqueous acetonitrile with a mole fraction of water around 0.7 the enthalpies of solution of tetraalkylammonium bromides in aqueous acetonitrile show a local minimum which magnitude is dependent upon the length of the alkyl groups and the temperature. For an explanation of this effect a connection is assumed with the upper critical solution temperature of the water-acetonitrile system.
