Abstract

AbstractQuasi binary enthalpy of mixing experiments have been performed in the ternary liquid system AlCl3 —AlCl3NH3 —KCl by mixing AlCl3 + KCl with AlCl3NH3 keeping the ratio XA1Cl3XKCI = 1.125, 1.5 and 2.0, respectively. At XA1Cl3XNH3 = 0.5 and T = 270°C the enthalpies of mixing were ≃ —430 J mol−1 for all the quasi‐binaries studied. The new enthalpy data are not fully consistent with published vapour pressure data and thermodynamic model calculation
