Abstract

In the present work, the enthalpies of formation of Mo–Pt alloys are determined by high temperature direct reaction synthesis calorimetry at 1768 K (Mo 6Pt, ε′, MoPt 2, and (Pt) solid solution) and 1526 K (MoPt). The following values are reported: Δ f H 1768 K ( Mo 6 Pt ) = - 13.0 ± 1.9 kJ / mol · at. ; Δ f H ∘ ( ε ′ ) = - 26.1 ± 4.9 kJ / mol · at. ; Δ f H ∘ ( MoPt ) = - 27.7 ± 3.9 kJ / mol · at. ; Δ f H ∘ ( MoPt 2 ) = - 36.9 ± 1.8 kJ / mol · at. ; Δ f H ∘ ( Pt ) = - 27.1 ± 4.2 kJ / mol · at. The results are compared with predicted ab initio data.
