Abstract

ABSTRACT Based on matched micro data, this study examines the impact of FDI on carbon emissions. The results show that FDI increases carbon emissions in the home country. Compared with forward-gradient FDI, reverse-gradient FDI has a more significant effect on carbon emissions. In addition, enterprise FDI can increase energy consumption, but the effect of technology spillover is not obvious. This study objectively evaluates the home country carbon emission effect of enterprise FDI.
