Abstract

Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University has been successful in attracting substantial industry and government funding to support the introduction of 'enterprise engineering degrees'. The underlying objective of this initiative is to develop enterprising professionals with the confidence, attitudes, and abilities to assume roles of leadership in technology, business, and the community. The enterprise theme provides a focus on the strategic partnership between technology and business, and a basis for the development of skills in innovation, self-reliance, teamwork, change management, and leadership. In 1992, a major review of the Bachelor of Engineering courses in communication, electronic, and computer Systems engineering was undertaken within an enterprise engineering framework.
