Abstract

Enteric virus transmission has traditionally been described as fecal-oral, which has shaped recommendations to limit virus spread. Recently, Ghosh etal. demonstrate that enteric viruses are also able to replicate in the salivary glands (SGs) of infected hosts and are shed in saliva, proposing an oral-oral transmission route by these viruses.
