Abstract

For patients with severe dysphagia following radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma who need enteral nutrition, there are many options for doctors to apply dependenting on individuals’ complicate situations and timing. Nasogastric tube is thought to be a classic and wild accepted procedure for short-term feeding(generally less than 6 weeks). On the other hand, gastrostomy or jejunostomy, especially for percutaneous endoscopic gastrosomy(PEG) is highlighted by researchers and clinics all over the word and reaches high technology maturity. Whereas , there are other options that were forgotten and replaced for a long time but are excavated with modern technological renovation for particular patients. The purpose of this review is to summarize several practical techniques, providing an overall view of the methods, outcomes and complications of the enteral feeding procedures.
