Abstract

We investigate the effects of the global projection operators with respect to the total S z conservation and translational symmetry on the entanglement entropy (EE) and the variational state in the S =1/2 Heisenberg chain with eight sites under the periodic boundary condition. As variational states, we use tensor networks including the matrix product state, the tree tensor network state, and the multi-scale entanglement renormalization ansatz state. The EE and variational energy get close to the exact values by applying the projection with respect to the total S z conservation in all networks.
