Abstract
The failures of safety-critical railway systems lead to catastrophic consequences, including injury, death or big financial losses. With an increase in the number of trains, the probability of accidents also increases. There are various reasons for train accidents such as derailment, same track and over-speed. There are a large number of causalities that occur due to the arrival of a train on wrong track. So, it is very important to analyze the failure of the system, in order to solve these issues. These failures can occur due to fog, mist, manual handling, and data error. In this chapter, a framework is proposed that deals with the diamond crossing signal and level crossing signal in which train passes with the help of a railway traffic light, without collision using petri net. This chapter also analyzes the deadlock and liveliness property of the system using the reach-ability graph.
