Abstract

Singapore is a cosmopolitan city-nation in Southeast Asia which has a Muslim minority population. Mosques in Singapore play a crucial role in various aspects of the local Muslims’ life and have great potential in ensuring the welfare of the surrounding society. Therefore, it is of utmost importance for the mosque management to continue uplifting and to sustain its multi-functionality in this era of modernization. This study focuses on three main aspects of sustainability, which are environment and facilities, social as well as financial and economic. The research aims to explore approaches taken by a mosque to ensure its sustainability in the foreseeable future. Interviews were carried out among the mosque management committee members.
