Abstract

The use of Communication and Information Technologies (CITs) on Chemistry teaching is described and analyzed. The works is focused on a blog construction as a resource to help high school students understanding and assimilating chemistry concepts in a contextualized form. The blog is related to petrochemical process and thermoplastic resins. A thorough literature review about CITs was done to have an overall picture on the use of these technologies as teaching tools in chemistry. It was decided to construct a blog and according to students and teachers of the chemistry course, the use of this tool allows demonstrating concepts, adding informative videos and illustrating contents in an interesting, creative and constructive way. The application of the blog to the teaching of chemistry has shown to be a good tool for high school teachers during their first years of work.
