Abstract
MANY OF US TEACH, on the side, one of those ever-popular adult education foreign language courses, where we are confronted for eight long weeks by a classroom full of earnest souls who wish to become fluent in the foreign language (hereafter FL) without ever having to study. In order to maintain a semblance of academic order and, in fact, to preserve my own sanity for the duration; I have developed a series of lessons in each of which little or no previous knowledge of the FL is required. Each week's presentation is a unit unto itself, one for which the student has to have retained only a minimum of what was introduced the week before.
