Abstract

We show theoretically that the electronic bandgap in graphene superlattices (SLs) can be substantially enlarged as desired by using multiple heterostructures. These multiple heterostructures consist of different graphene SLs with different one-dimensional (1D) periodic potentials. The constituent SLs have to be properly chosen such that the electronic band gaps of the adjacent SL overlap each other.
