Abstract

The present study compared the effectiveness of three practice techniques on putting performance in golf. Also assessed were the perceived usefulness of the different techniques as well as reported willingness to practice using the different techniques. While no difference was found in actual putting performance among the three practice conditions, differences in perceived usefulness and willingness to practice were found, particularly in favor of a mastery practice condition. It was concluded that how one practices may not be as important as that one practices and that mastery practice may indeed contribute to the greater likelihood of one's practicing.
