Abstract

In this contribution, we show how electromagnetic cloaking may be used to enhance the performances of the telecommunication system of a nanosatellite platform. In particular, by analyzing a realistic scenario, we prove that a properly designed mantle cloak can reduce the deteriorating effects introduced by the deployable equipment of a CubeSat-class spacecraft on the link budget between the ground station and the nanosatellite itself. These results enable new degrees of freedom in the design of compact nanosatellite platforms equipped with different sensors and multi-functional antennas.
