Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging technology working with multiple sensors and wireless communication protocols. People are utilizing smart & intelligent devices towards comfort life using IoT. Home automation is one among them coordinating with the actuators and sensors are connected within the network. The IoT network has many layers like a controller layer, device layer, gateway layer, server layer, application layer. The device layer is connected with many small-sized numbers of devices and there are chances to occur faults in this layer. This paper mainly focuses on device clustering, and fault tolerance at the device level. The improvement in fault tolerance automatically increases reliability of the network. Cold Standby sparing redundancy (CSSR) technique is an active redundancy technique is presented for IoT system to improvise the fault tolerance level in the proposed system. In this technique two identical modules are avail as a cluster heads. This technique enhances the reliability of the system from 0.1 to 0.38.
