Abstract

The chapter explores the main processes supported by international agencies and non-governmental actors to advance global social development cooperation. It examines the main strategies, initiatives, actors, and mechanisms employed, as well as the main challenges and shortcomings. Particular attention is paid to the increasing importance of emerging aid actors from the South, and their potential role for shaping global social development cooperation. Despite unprecedented exchanges, which generated a global conversation on social development, whether ultimately they will lead to new models of global cooperation and drive real change are yet to be seen.
