Abstract

Chick embryo tissue cultures were infected with an inducer virus (Chikungunya virus) to produce interferon. Twenty-four hours after infection the medium was removed and this constituted the first interferon harvest. A second harvest was obtained by reincubating these tissue cultures with fresh medium: pretreatment with several proteolytic enzymes improved the yields of interferon in second harvest.
