Abstract

Midwives from Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique first conceived the African Midwives Research Network (AMRN) in Tanzania in 1992 (Lugina et al, 2002). The network provides a pathway for best evidence and information to be shared internationally, helping to create strategies and solutions for future practice. The aim of the network is to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity rates and improve the quality of care for women globally.
