Thework to be presented involves the preparation of isostructural Tc and Re complexes of ligands derivatized with tetrazines which can be used to tag transcyclooctene modified biomolecules. A series of single amino acid chelate (SAAC) type ligands bearing tetrazines have been synthesized and methods to prepare their M(CO)3 complexes (M= Tc or Re) developed. Ligand synthesis, metal complexation studies, which includes preparation of luminescent Re complexes, along with biological evaluation of this new targeting strategy for technetium will be presented.
