Abstract

Youth problems have traditionally been addressed by intervention techniques that fail to recognize the family's potential for promoting healthy development among adolescents. A family strengthening program utilizing the principles of social learning theory teaches both parents and youth how to deal constructively rather than destructively with familial and social situations. A filmography of useful teaching aids, those illustrating specific behavioral techniques for parents and youth as well as those discussing the nature of family relationships, is highlighted here.
