Abstract

This work presents an index-guiding photonic crystal fiber (PCF) structure substrate to improve the gain for THz photoconductive antennas (PCAs). It is remarkable that the proposed substrate has the transverse single-mode and longitudinal multi-modes at 3.5308 THz. The directivity of the antenna in the case of the mode of the proposed substrate reaches 15.39dBi. In this mode, enhancement of the antenna gain can be achieved by increasing the number of longitudinal modes within limits.
