Abstract

Samples of YBa2Cu3Ox with x ≃ 6.7 and 7 were treated under diluted NF3 at 300 °C during short time (t<1 hour). Two types of mechanisms are observed: at low fluorine concentration Tc increases progressively up to, or stay at the limit of 90 K for x ≃ 6.7 and 7, respectively, while Meissner effect is complete; with further increase of fluorine concentration, Tc varies no more, while the amplitude of Meissner effect decreases suddenly. Localization of fluorine in two different sites of the structure, leading to the two observed phenomena, is discussed.
