Abstract

With regard to the Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations in Sr 2 RuO 4 , an unusual enhancement was found in oscillatory components with frequencies F β±α = F β ± F α for a particular orientation of the crystal in the magnetic field, where F α and F β are the oscillatory frequencies for the two-dimensional Fermi surface branches, α and β, respectively. The orientation is given by the so-called Yamaji angles corresponding to the maxima in the angle-dependent magnetoresistance oscillation, where the carriers in the slightly warped cylindrical Fermi surface behave as if they were in a two-dimensional system. The results can be understood in terms of the chemical potential oscillation effect as predicted by Nakano for de Haas-van Alphen oscillations.
