Abstract

In this work, we have investigated the dielectric properties of low density polyethylene (LDPE) grad (LA071) samples exposed to different γ irradiation doses ranging from 0 to 50 Gy. The distribution of the relaxation is demonstrated by Cole–Cole plots, depending on γ irradiation dose. Some parameters like optical dielectric constant, oscillating strength of the dipoles, macroscopic relaxation time and molecular relaxation time of LDPE samples have been estimated from Cole–Cole plots at room temperature. The γ irradiation enhances energy storage and energy loss of LDPE samples. It is concluded that γ irradiation can be considered as an alternative tool to improve the dielectric properties of polymer.
