Abstract

The possibility of enhancing the cytotoxic effect of doxorubicin on tumor cells with the aid of additional exposure to atmospheric cold plasma is considered. Experiments conducted in vitro on HeLa cell culture showed a 40% increase in effectiveness of doxorubicin in this combined treatment. The observed increase in the antitumor drug activity is explained by the presence of free radicals formed by plasma that produce additional genotoxic and DNA-damaging effects.
