Abstract

This paper investigates the behaviour of 4 deep beams prepared by varying the percentages of horizontal and vertical shear reinforcement. First, two specimens are prepared in a regular way of placing shear reinforcement, the third specimen is made by introducing fibres and for the fourth beam, since Indian Standards does not have any provisions for strut and tie model (STM), the shear reinforcement is placed as an alternate in place of STM by meeting the design standards of Indian codes. Different parameters like percentage of horizontal shear reinforcement, vertical shear reinforcement, and shear span depth ratio, web reinforcement was studied and validated analytically through ABAQUS software.
