Abstract
Due to increasing sensitivity of the power equipment in utility system the term Power quality (PQ) has acquired point of discussion for the researchers. In recent times, active filters like shunt series and their hybrid topologies are the proven solutions to eliminate the PQ issues. Such filter topologies are facing few problems regarding space and time characteristics. In this paper, a cascaded Multi level Inverter (MLI) acting in place of conventional Voltage source inverters (VSI) solves the above-mentioned problems i.e harmonic mitigation in current. This is further enhanced with intelligent metaheuristic techniques. The well-known PQ theory is for reference signal generation and SPWM technique is used for pulse generation required for active filtering device. The dynamical simulations are carried out with MATLAB/SIMULINK toolset.
