Enhancement of Phagocytic Activity by Desmuramyl Peptide AdDP in Guinea Pig with a Cyclophosphamide-Induced Immunosuppression

Abstract

A new compound from the group od desmuramyl peptides, which has been synthetized in the search for a compound having immunostimulatory and antiviral activities, was previously reported to display an adjuvant activity including cell-mediated and humoral imunities. The compound has been shown to have also a stimulatory effect on the function of macrophages. We had previously reported the stimulatory effect on phagocytic activity of polymorphonuclear leucocytes in naive animals. This finding encouraged us to study the effect of AdDP on the phagocytic activity of leucocytes and macrophages in animals treated previously with cyclophosphamide.
