Abstract

CaCu2.95Cr0.05Ti4.1O12 (Cr05) ceramics were prepared by the polymer pyrolysis (PP) method. Nonlinear coefficient (α) and breakdown field (Eb) of Cr05 ceramic can be improved by sintering process. Surprisingly, α and Eb values of Cr05 ceramic sintered at 1045 °C for 5 h were found to be 237.24 and 10,194.75 V.cm−1, respectively. Moreover, very low loss tangent (tanδ) ~ 0.013–0.014 and high dielectric constant (ε′) ~ 3249–3475 with temperature coefficients less than ± 15% over the temperature range of −60 to 140 °C were obtained. Effect of sintering temperature on phase composition and microstructure of Cr05 ceramics were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy (XANES) was performed to determine the oxidation state of Ti ions in all ceramics.
