Abstract
This study aimed to enhance the chlorine resistance of reverse osmosis (RO) membrane by providing a protective coating on a commercial reverse osmosis membrane, ESPA2, using an industrial grade epoxy resin and polyacrylic acid. The coated membrane maintained above 92.5% of a salt rejection even after chlorination with 50000 ppm-hr. The chemical stability of the coated RO membranes against chlorine was confirmed with scanning electron microscope and some other spectroscopic techniques.
