Abstract

In this paper, a novel space-domain index modulation (SDIM) based transmit scheme - enhanced SDIM (EDSIM) is proposed for short-range millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication systems equipped with distributed antennas for the deployment of local and private network. ESDIM-based system jointly utilize combinations of the active index of beamforming directions and signal constellations to convey information bits, and the number of beamforming directions in each time slot can be one or two. In addition, we also investigate the power allocation of the proposed ESDIM-based schemes to further improve the system reliability, with a total transmit power constraint (TTPC). Simulation results show that the proposed schemes can improve the system symbols error rate (SER) performance effectively.
