Abstract
Abstract The sinterability of high purity alumina powders was enhanced by ultrasonication in liquid ammonia. The surfaces of the resulting powders contained agglomerated regions of submicron-sized particles that were metallic in appearance. When heated to 1400 °C, these particles densified into a solid with observable grain bonding and necking.
