Abstract

AbstractIn this paper, SnWO4 photocatalyst with enhanced simulated sunlight‐driven photocatalytic performance was prepared by a hydrothermal method in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The samples were characterized by Brunauer–Emmett–Teller method, X‐ray diffraction, UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, surface photovoltage spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The active free radicals formed were investigated by electron spin resonance spectroscopy and trapping experiments. Photocatalytic abilities of the photocatalyts were evaluated using methyl orange as model contaminant. The results show that CTAB induces redshift and promotes the photo‐induced charge separation rate of SnWO4, thereby boosting the photocatalytic performance. The photocatalytic test results reveal that the photocatalytic activity of CTAB‐SnWO4 is 7.25 times of the reference SnWO4.
