Abstract

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy has been used to study the surface chemistry of thiocarbohydrazide (TCH) on Ag and Cu electrodes. The TCH molecule is adsorbed on Ag and Cu surfaces through its S atom. The electrochemistry of TCH in acidic solutions is also investigated. In contrast to thiosemicarbazide, no decomposition of TCH on the Ag or Cu electrode surfaces is observed in acidic solutions. TCH is stable for a wide range of pH's and applied electrode potentials.
