Abstract

Numerical results are presented which demonstrate enhanced Raman scattering from a molecule adsorbed on a two-dimensional array of dielectric spheres. The origin of the enhancement is the double excitation of periodicity-induced electromagnetic localized states (EMLS). When the frequencies and wave vectors of the incident and scattered lights lie on the dispersion curves of the EMLS, the enhancement factor is shown to become as large as ${10}^{4}$.
