Abstract

ENHANCED NITRIFICATION IN BIOFILMS BY OPTIMIZED OXYGEN ADDITIONNitrification in a packed bed biofilm reactor (Biofor) for nitrification was strongly correlated to oxygen availability. Experiments controlling biofilm diffusion and external mass-transfer were performed. In one test the airflow was enriched with oxygen to variable levels without changing the total gasflow, thus eliminating hydraulic effects. The reactor was operated at an empty bed water velocity...Author(s)Leif YdstebøRamona JohnsonTorleiv BilstadSourceProceedings of the Water Environment FederationSubjectSession 57 - Research Symposium: NitrificationDocument typeConference PaperPublisherWater Environment FederationPrint publication date Jan, 2001ISSN1938-6478SICI1938-6478(20010101)2001:11L.619;1-DOI10.2175/193864701790860029Volume / Issue2001 / 11Content sourceWEFTECFirst / last page(s)619 - 630Copyright2001Word count209
